GUEZE sees regional positioning as its main challenge: following the Ardèche and Provence, Savoy is the location of GUEZE’s recent investment through its acquisition of the Jacquemardes and Les Fumades de Savoie operations, thus reinforcing its positioning in the deli meats sector in the region. Since the year
of its founding in 1933, Guèze has been upholding the tradition of Ardèche
deli meat products. The present managers, Christophe and Sylvie Guèze, carefully watch over this. Today they represent the third generation at the helm of this entirely family-run business perpetuating the terroir-rooted cured meat tradition. Change and challenge have always underpinned the company’s ethos: the business continues to evolve, consumers no longer eat deli meats as before, so there’s a need to continually adapt, to combine the past with what modern technology can offer each and every day. To allow the company to align itself more closely with the industry’s heritage, Gueze is entering the Clean Label domain. Doing things simply and well isn’t as simple as all that. The consumer of 2019 requires transparency (and thank goodness for that) not only in terms of traceability but also across the entire production chain, from animal well-being to marketing. They demand the authentic, original product of the terroir and not a pitiful approximation of it... the development of Mangalica breeding exemplifies this, where quality, originality and respect form the cornerstones of the company.
